Alice Koekkoek

Master of Social Work, Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW)

Alice works with teens (16+) and adults navigating grief, loss, and major life transitions who are seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotional patterns. With over 30 years of experience, she brings a calm, grounded presence to therapy and creates space to slow down, reflect, and approach challenges with greater self-compassion. Alice believes meaningful change begins with understanding — not rushing toward solutions.

Approach & Areas of Focus

Alice brings a compassionate, strength-oriented presence to her work with clients navigating grief, loss, and life transitions. She understands that loss — whether through relationship endings, death, health changes, job transitions, or other major life shifts — can stir intense emotions, confusion, and disruption. Alice’s approach invites clients to explore their experiences with gentleness, dignity, and self-compassion, helping them find meaning and resilience even amidst difficulty.

Her therapeutic style is versatile and grounded in evidence-informed practice; she meets clients with empathy, curiosity, and respect for their unique journeys. Alice’s work often blends supportive exploration with practical strategies tailored to individual needs and goals.

Alice commonly supports clients with:

  • Grief, bereavement, and loss of all kinds

  • Life transitions and adjustment challenges

  • Stress, anxiety, and mood concerns related to change

  • Enhancing resilience, meaning-making, and coping skills

Her work draws from a range of modalities — including Mindfulness, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Grief and Bereavement Counselling, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches — allowing her to tailor the therapeutic experience to what feels most supportive and effective for each client.
