Meet Rachel Belway…
Rachel is a client-centered, compassionate and experienced Registered Social Worker with nearly 30 years of dedication to supporting people through life’s most challenging moments.
She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from McGill University in 2002, with a focus in grief counselling. She has created a career deeply rooted in helping clients navigate bereavement, loss, and the complexities of chronic illness and relationship challenges both in a hospital setting and in the community. She has also worked in Foster Care and Children’s Mental Health Organizations with her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Carleton University in 2001 and her Child & Youth Worker Diploma from St. Lawrence College in 1997.
Providing a non-judgmental and inclusive approach, Rachel provides a calm and accepting space to allow people to discuss their challenges. This allows her to draw on clients’ strengths to develop strategies so they can attain goals and work towards a more balanced and fulfilling life. Rachel draws on various therapeutic approaches while working toward client’s achieving personal growth and attaining their personal goals.
Her main therapy approach is Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and Attachment Therapy and is also trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing. She practices from a neuroaffirming therapy approach, with experience in supporting neurodivergent individuals and the LGBTQIA+ community with understanding and compassion.
Discovering an individual’s strengths can be empowering to overcome even the most challenging and emotionally traumatizing obstacles. This belief is Rachel’s foundation when entering therapy with clients. It is her dedication and commitment to work through your journey, together.
