(Not currently accepting clients)

Amie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and is excited to join the team at Courtney James Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Amie is passionate about supporting children (10+), adolescents, young adults, and families while they navigate through life’s challenges, including managing emotions and stress, improving self-esteem, self-regulation or social skills, coping with changes or life transitions, seeking skills to manage relationships, including family conflict and peer issues.

Encouraging social-emotional wellness by increasing self-awareness, cultivating confidence, promoting healthy self-expression, practicing effective communication, nurturing positive relationships, modelling effective strategies for self-regulation and providing a healthy outlet for expressing feelings, Amie seeks to help clients view challenges as opportunities to discover personal strengths and develop resilience, while providing psycho-education around healthy relationships and healthy habits.

Rooted in evidence-based modalities, Amie’s approach to therapy is flexible, collaborative, holistic and integrative, meaning that a variety of different techniques are used to facilitate the change process, to build on clients’ strengths while further developing coping strategies, tools, and skills in the areas where clients may struggle, while also incorporating compassion-focused and mindfulness interventions.

Amie offers a warm, non-judgmental and supportive space where she collaboratively works with clients to make positive change that is within their control, while accepting what is outside their control. With a background in education as an elementary school teacher, Amie tailors her approach to individual client needs, while incorporating age-appropriate approaches that are playful, adaptive and engaging to help children and adolescents feel comfortable, meeting them with patience and compassion so that they feel seen, heard and understood. As a mother of two, Amie also welcomes the opportunity to work with families to help parents navigate both the messy and the magical seasons of life to strengthen their relationship with their child(ren) or teen(s) and explore parenting strategies to support their child(ren) or teen(s) social, emotional, and behavioural development.

Amie believes that clients are the experts on their own lives, walking with them on the path towards social-emotional wellness.
